Investigation of Body Compositions and Dietary Habits of Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Case Control Study

Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the body composition and dietary habits patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and
 compare them healthy controls.
 Material Methods: 64 participants (RA n=32 mean age: 55.2±1.5 years; Healthy Group 54.5±1.5 years)
 were included in study. Body compositions (body mass index, fat ratio, skeletal muscle mass, index)
 evaluated analysis system device (Polosmart PSC12 Prolife) (meat/fish consumption, legumes
 egg milk/dairy product consumption liquid consumption) questions created by
 researchers. In comparison independent group differences, Independent Samples T Test used when parametric test
 assumptions met, Mann Whitney U test not met..
 Results: When comparing compositions, there a significant difference (p=0.001) muscle
 index (p=0.002) favor group; but ratios similar (p>0.05). the
 habits, (p=0.008), meat/fish (p=0.001), legumes (p=0.046) consumptions higher
 (p>0.05)
 Conclusion: RA had less lower scores, worse nutritional levels compared
 controls. light these results, we recommend that receive support from professional centers regulating
 as well exercise methods increase mass.
